Where is my donation going?
In 2023 we received a Technical Assistance Grant for an Engineering/Structural Analysis. The program is a partnership between the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and the Preservation League of New York State. The analysis was completed in 2024. The analysis report focused on the structure. The report pointed out twelve projects to work towards. Plus the stained glass windows also require rehabilitation and the facility needs installation of a new HVAC system. We have completed one of the projects. For the remaining eleven projects the study estimates a range of $73,400 to $284,500 plus an HVAC system.
In spite of roof snow removal efforts this years heavy winter snow has caused some roof issues in the rear addition. That issue is being assessed. This year we plan to clean out the basement, renovate the stain glass windows, repair the bell tower and rear foundation, plus siding renovation. The Preservation League is very interested in preserving our historical building. With their support we are now focused on the priorities and pursuing funds to complete renovations. Your donation would assist us in our goal of maintaining and growing your community facility.
From the report:
The existing building interior rooms are in good to very good condition. The exterior building's roof is in good condition. The exterior painted window wooden components, door trim and exterior white painted trim - paint condition is in poor condition. The exterior siding paint is in poor condition. Recommend removal of existing siding, installation of Tyvek membrane and Certainteed Wolverine bevel vinyl siding and trim; all wooden trim shall be replaced with Azek. The original facility has a stone foundation that requires extensive cleaning and repointing of mortar joints throughout. There is no moisture control in the cellar. Under the rear addition the cellar wall needs to be repaired/replaced. The existing heating system should be removed and replaced with a new HVAC system.
